Public Hearing

Listen

01/06/2020, 6PM

Members Present: Chairman, Mark Springer; Supervisors Nate Kuntz and Dave Nehring; Clerk, Cyndy Meidinger; Road Supervisor/Zoning Board, Roy Kuil; Treasurer, Jamie Vetsch and Zoning Board, Jerry Kunz

Members Absent: Assessor, Mark Splonskowski and Weed Board Member, Terry Mauch

Chairman Springer opened the meeting stating the purpose of the meeting was to determine how to proceed with the proposed multi-use-building. During the discussion some of the suggestions were:

Possible uses of the building:

Lunchroom/kitchen for school lunches, additional classrooms

Possible income from rental for social functions, now AC School must rent space for school functions and there is not a lot of space available. This would help defray cost of the building

Funding:

AC Board has started a building fund but will need to look @ other funding possibilities, grants, state funding, increase school tax. $350,000.00 was thrown out as a possible cost.

Other Items discussed:

Possible sale of school portables and tear down original school building and build new building that would include a multipurpose area.

Determine value of adjoining property by the school to facilitate the building of the multipurpose building.

Troy Miller was suggested as a possible builder for the building.

Parking is a problem now and future parking will also need to be addressed.

Will there be the opportunity for growth in the township to be able to sustain and support the school in the future?

The result of the discussion was to have a committee of residents and a member of ACT board and possibly the building inspector to get answers to these and other questions. This will be a way to have informational meetings for the residents of the township regarding the proposed building. The members of the committee will approach other townships that faced the same issues Apple Creek School is now facing to get input from them.

AC School board will be meeting soon and will set up their requirements for committee members. Clerk Meidinger will put an ad in the Bismarck Tribune informing ACT residents about the committee and will also put a notice on the ACT webpage.

With no other business to discuss Chairman Springer adjourned the special meeting of ACT @ 6:35 PM

Respectfully Submitted,

Cyndy Meidinger, Clerk ACT
